Three Teenage Boys Struck and Seriously Injured by SUV near Kerry Street
GARDEN GROVE, CA (July 19, 2018) – Three teenagers were hospitalized early Thursday evening, following a pedestrian collision on Westminster Avenue.
According to the Garden Grove Police, the incident took place shortly before 6:00 PM at the intersection of Westminster Avenue and Kerry Street. A group of six teenagers was crossing in a marked crosswalk when three of them were struck by a westbound GMC Yukon XL.
The victims – a 14-year-old boy and two 13-year-old boys – sustained head trauma and injuries to the face. They were transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation.
The preliminary investigation determined that the SUV ran a red light before hitting the teenagers. Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
