David Lawrence Cordova III Arrested after Crash on North Riverside Avenue in Rialto
Rialto, CA (June 23, 2022) – Wednesday noon, three Rialto police officers sustained injuries in a crash on North Riverside Avenue.
The crash in Rialto happened at around 12:08 p.m. on June 22.
Rialto Police said they responded to a car that struck a telephone in the 3300 block of North Riverside Avenue driven by a mother with her two children when a Nissan struck the driver-side door of their vehicle.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old David Lawrence Cordova III of Colton, was driving a black Nissan Sentra north on Riverside Avenue when he struck the officers’ car.
He then got out of his car and “acted erratically”, yelling incoherently in the middle of the street and showing signs of intoxication.
Meanwhile, EMS took the three officers to a local hospital and later released them to recover at home.
Police arrested Cordova and later learned he was suspected of a carjacking just several minutes earlier in the 500 block of Mt. Vernon Avenue in San Bernardino at a medical clinic.
Cordova was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and resisting an executive officer by force. He was being held on $1 million bails.
