Christian Eduardo Saldana Medina Arrested after Crash near Otay Mesa Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 26, 2018) – On Monday afternoon, three people were seriously injured after a collision on Caliente Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 2:00 PM, near the intersection of Otay Mesa Road. The commotion started after 26-year-old Christian Eduardo Saldana Medina, was ordered to pull over for a minor traffic infraction. The driver initially yielded, before he suddenly sped off at a high rate of speed in an attempt to flee from the authorities. Officers pursued the pickup truck for about one and a half miles until it smashed into a tractor-trailer at the corner of Pacific Rim Court and Camino Maquiladora.

The crash left all three male occupants seriously injured. Emergency crews freed the victims of the crumpled vehicle. One of the passengers suffered life-threatening-injuries.

Medina was arrested on suspicion of felony evading with injury. The second passenger, identified as 38-year-old Edgar Quintana Valenzuela, was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
