3 Hospitalized after Marysville Auto Accident on 64th Street

MARYSVILLE, WA (July 3, 2020) – Tuesday afternoon, three people required hospitalization after a multi-car crash on 64th Street.

The four-car crash occurred about 1:00 p.m. in the 8700 block of 64th Street NE near Highway 9. According to reports, a woman inside a Toyota Corolla slumped over the center console and got trapped. As a result, the Toyota sustained heavy front and back end damage and spilled gasoline onto the road.

Responders took her to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for emergency surgery.

Meanwhile, the vehicle of the suspect – a Porsche Cayenne sustained heavy damage. A witness reported the incident to 911 and said that the Porsche drove recklessly before the collision. The vehicle kept driving across the centerline and the driver seemed driving under the influence.

Thus, the authorities arrested the 49-year-old male suspect from Arlington. He’s under investigation of vehicular assault and driving under the influence.

Further Details about the Multi-Car Crash on 64th Street

The initial investigation revealed that the Porsche driver probably crashed into the tear of the Toyota while speeding. Afterward, the Toyota collided with two more vehicles in front of it. Then, the Toyota spun and struck another vehicle.

Responders took the occupants of the other two vehicles to a hospital with injuries.

According to authorities, the driver seemed distracted after some questioning.

“I was driving when I heard a bang and then there were two collisions,” the suspect driver said.

Meanwhile, the passenger revealed that the driver picked him up on 164th Street NE, around seven miles to the north. According to him, they would be picking up the suspect’s wife in Arlington before driving to Bellevue.

Furthermore, the driver failed the field sobriety tests and blew into a breathalyzer. The authorities found out that the driver hadn’t been drinking.

When the police searched him, they found a yellow plastic baggie in his pocket. After a test in the station, they suspect that the content of the baggie could be heroin.

To avoid being involved in an accident, one must practice safe driving habits on the road at all times. Also, do it even when it is empty. Moreover, practice it even when there is no police officer around to make sure you make a complete stop.
