3 Dead and Several Injured in San Diego Bus Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (February 24, 2020) – Saturday morning, three victims were killed and 18 were injured in a charter bus accident on the 15 Freeway.
Around 10:20 a.m., a bus driver lost control in the southbound lanes. The bus veered off the rain-slicked road before overturning and landing in an embankment just south of Highway 76.
Several victims were ejected from the bus while others remained trapped inside. Some managed to escape on their own. However, three women were pronounced dead on scene.
Medics transported the eighteen other victims to Palomar Medical Center, Temecula Valley Hospital, and Inland Valley Medical Center for further treatment. Meanwhile, the bus driver from Whittier sustained minor injuries and remained on scene.
There has been no update on the current conditions of the injured victims. Following preliminary investigation, drugs and alcohol were ruled out as a potential factor.
The bus was bound to San Ysidro, with a final stop planned in Tijuana. A heavy-duty tow-truck was called and eventually moved the bus around 6:00 p.m.
Moreover, the identities of the deceased victims remain unreleased due to pending family notification.
Authorities also plan to examine the bus for possible mechanical failures. They will also inspect whether the bus followed the safety regulations required of charter companies.
Our firm would like to send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the three deceased women.
