Injuries Reported in Oakland Multi-Vehicle Accident on Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway
OAKLAND, CA (December 30, 2024) – Saturday afternoon, a startling 3-vehicle crash on Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway injured 3 officers.
The incident happened just before 2:45 p.m. on Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway.
The Oakland Fire Department reported that the collision happened while BART police were responding to a call near Seventh Street and Mandela Parkway. Two patrol cars collided with a medical supply van.
Four people were injured and transported to the hospital, though their current conditions are unknown.
Footage from the scene shows over half a dozen BART police cruisers, one heavily damaged, with debris and shattered glass scattered throughout the area. A deployed airbag and a cracked windshield are visible in one of the vehicles.
Witnesses at the scene stated they did not see the police vehicles slow down before the crash, with one noting the cars were traveling “hella fast” before the collision.
Oakland police confirmed the involvement of BART patrol vehicles and injuries resulting from the incident. It is unclear if alcohol or drugs were factors.
