Injuries Reported in Merced County Auto Accident on Highway 165 near Williams Avenue

MERCED COUNTY, CA (December 2, 2024) – Saturday morning, a startling traffic crash on Highway 165 near Williams Avenue.

The crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. on Highway 165 near Williams Avenue, outside of Hilmar in Merced County.

The California Highway Patrol reported that an 18-year-old man was driving south on 165 and attempted to pass a car in front of him in heavy fog. He side-swiped a box truck before colliding head-on with a northbound pick-up truck. 

The 18-year-old was hospitalized with serious injuries. Two men in their 50s, in the pick-up truck, were also taken to the hospital with injuries. A woman driving behind the truck struck debris from the crash. 

Authorities confirmed that fog was a contributing factor in the incident.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities are investigating the incident.
