BUTTE COUNTY, CA (February 19, 2025) – Tuesday night, a crippling 2-vehicle crash on Highway 70 and Coal Canyon Road injured 3 people.

Initial reports said that a crash involving a vehicle vs cow happened at about 8:12 p.m. in the area of Highway 70 and Coal Canyon Road, north of Oroville.

CAL FIRE responded to the accident with two engines and a chief officer.

According to reports, the first unit on the scene discovered a two-vehicle crash, with one vehicle on fire. Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the flames, bringing the fire under control by 8:26 p.m.

Three individuals sustained moderate injuries in the crash. An air ambulance was initially requested but was canceled before arriving at the scene.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
