3 Hurt in Multi-Vehicle Accident in San Jose

SAN JOSE, CA (December 5, 2019) — A 280 Freeway multi-vehicle crash near Highway 87 Wednesday morning resulted in several injuries.

Nearly nine cars collided around 5:34 a.m. during heavy steady rainfall. Along the northbound freeway, commuters faced traffic due to the chain-reaction collision that occurred near the center median and blocked three northbound lanes.

At least two people suffered unknown injuries in the accident with the Jaws of Life used to free a woman trapped in her truck, as well as another person in a small dark-colored sedan.

According to reports, another person self-extricated him or herself before being transported to a local hospital.

Due to the formidable crash, traffic was backed up to McLaughlin Avenue.

It’s unclear what drove the cars to crash, but the California Highway Patrol will investigate whether inclement weather played a role.

During heavy rainfall, fog or snow, it’s important that we conform to road conditions to ensure road safety. This means watching our speed, keeping a safe and considerable distance from the car ahead and attempting turns and lane changes with ease. Remember these tips during severe weather.
