3 Hospitalized Following Carson City Wrong-Way Collision
CARSON CITY, NV (January 30, 2020) — Three people suffered serious injuries following Monday’s wrong-way crash on Highway 50 near Centennial Drive.
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m., near an auto dealership. According to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief, paramedics transported three people to local hospitals.
Medical officials airlifted one patient while another team brought two others by ground ambulances to a trauma center at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
In the investigation, Nevada Highway Patrol said the incident involved three vehicles. An elderly woman was reportedly traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes, resulting in a three-car collision.
One person suffered a broken arm in the crash as a result of the impact.
Due to the incident, officials closed Highway 50 in both directions. However, reasons as to why the woman drove in the wrong direction remain under investigation.
