Injuries Reported in Sonora Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 49 and Old Sonora Columbia Road

 
SONORA, CA (February 9, 2022) – Tuesday afternoon, three people sustained injuries in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 49 and Old Sonora Columbia Road.
 
According to California Highway Patrol Officer Elliott Lopez, the incident happened at around 1:08 p.m. Moreover, it occurred on Highway 49 and Old Sonora Columbia Road.
 
Reports revealed that a 1987 Pontiac Fiero rear-ended a silver Lexus ES 300. According to reports, the Lexus stopped due to road construction on Highway 49. Moments later, an orange Subaru AWD Crosstrek then struck the Lexus. Then, it flipped and landed on top of both vehicles.
 
Moreover, responders provided aid at the scene to the male driver of the Pontiac who sustained minor injuries. Then, the female driver of the Subaru declined transport via ambulance and got a ride to the hospital in a private vehicle. The two occupants of the Lexus, two Columbia College students, complained of back pain. However, both of them didn’t require hospitalization.
 
Also, a basketball coach, Rob Hoyt, came out and assisted the two college students.
 
Furthermore, two tow trucks rushed to the scene to clear the vehicles involved in the incident.
 
Meanwhile, the crash remains under investigation.
