Driver Seriously Injured after Four-Vehicle Pileup near Interstate 15

 
SORRENTO VALLEY, CA (January 1, 2019) – Three people were hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 805.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Interstate 15, at about 2:00 PM. A driver exited his blue Nissan after it became disabled. Then, he was struck by a silver Mercedes SUV and thrown 135 feet before landing on the pavement. For unknown reasons, two other vehicles became involved in the collision.
 
The unidentified Nissan driver suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment and evaluation. Two other people were hospitalized with less serious injuries. Further updates on their current medical conditions were not provided.
 
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the pileup and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
