1 Hurt in Alpine Pedestrian Crash

 
ALPINE, CA (February 17, 2020) – A 26-year-old woman sustained injuries in a pedestrian crash on Alpine Boulevard.
 
The victim suffered a broken leg after a car hit her while she walked across a street.
 
The incident first occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on Alpine Boulevard west of West Victoria Drive.
 
According to CHP Officer Travis Garrow, a 31-year-old Lakeside man traveled east on Alpine Boulevard in a 2009 Scion TC sedan going around 35 mph — the speed limit.
 
He then hit the pedestrian crossing the street northbound outside of a crosswalk.
 
The sun affected the driver’s view during the collision, and he veered to the left in an attempt to avoid the woman. Unfortunately, the right front side of the Scion hit her.
 
Responders airlifted the woman to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of a broken right leg and multiple cuts.
 
Meanwhile, the driver stayed at the scene and spoke with the investigators. Authorities have also ruled out intoxication as a factor in the collision.
