23-Year-Old Motorist Killed in Fatal 3-Vehicle Collision on State Route 67

Poway, CA (October 10, 2021) On Friday, a 23-year-old man from Lakeside, died in a 3-vehicle crash on State Route 67.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) says the accident happened around 1 p.m. on State Route 67 and Lazy Acres Drive.

Moreover, the CHP says, the man was driving north in a Honda Accord trying to pass a semi-truck.

Meanwhile, a Toyota Highlander was heading south, driven by a 44-year-old Lakeside woman with a 19-year-old female passenger.

Furthermore, the Honda struck the big rig, causing both drivers to lose control of their vehicles.

The Honda driver lost control of his vehicle and veered south where it hit the oncoming Toyota.

All occupants of the vehicles were wearing their seatbelts when the crash occurred.

The Honda driver suffered fatal injuries. The authorities withheld his identification pending notification of next of kin.

Additionally, the Toyota driver and her passengers had minor injuries. The truck driver was uninjured.

All patients were taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

No further details are available, the CHP is conducting an investigation to determine the probable cause of the crash.
