22-Year-Old Woman Killed in Semi-Truck Crash on State Route 111 [Calexico, CA]

Juan Morales Involved in Fatal Calexico Big Rig Accident on State Route 111

 
CALEXICO, CA (January 27, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a 22-year-old woman died in a semi truck crash on State Route 111.
 
The troopers came to the crash scene at about 10:00 a.m. According to reports, the female driver of a 2013 Chrysler Fiat failed to let northbound traffic pass on State Route 111.
 
As she tried to enter the second lane, an oncoming Freightliner, driven by a Yuma man, hit her.
 
The authorities confirmed that the Freightliner driver tried to brake. However, the driver, 47-year-old Juan Morales, failed to stop and crashed with the left side of the Fiat.
 
As a result, the 22-year-old driver died at the scene due to blunt force trauma. Meanwhile, responders took the truck driver to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries.
 
Moreover, the authorities added that alcohol and drugs didn’t play a role in the crash. Also, both drivers wore their seatbelts during the crash.
 
The authorities continue to investigate the crash.
