22-Year-Old Juan Mata Involved in Pedestrian Accident on M Street [Merced, CA]

Merced, CA (April 29, 2022) – On Tuesday night, 22-year-old Juan Mata was involved in a pedestrian accident on M Street injuring a 63-year-old Merced man.

At about 8:42 p.m., the authorities responded to the crash scene at the intersection with West Olive Avenue.

Officers say the partially blind pedestrian was crossing M Street in the crosswalk. At the same time, a Nissan Sentra driven by Mata was turning right onto M Street from the eastbound lane of West Olive Avenue. 

The right front of Mata’s Nissan Sentra struck the pedestrian knocking him to the ground. 

Right away, the paramedics rushed the victim to an area trauma center with serious but non-fatal injuries. 

Moreover, Juan Mata stayed at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

The authorities are investigating the incident. They said neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the collision.
