2 Elderly Women Hospitalized after Apple Valley Crash on Tomahawk Road

 
APPLE VALLEY, CA (June 24, 2020) – Early Sunday night, a pedestrian crash on Tomahawk Road left two women with critical injuries.
 
The incident occurred on June 21st at around 7:38 p.m. near the Apple Valley Golf Course in the 19900 block of Tomahawk Road.
 
Firefighters from the Apple Valley Fire Protection District dispatched two medical helicopters. The airlift landed on the golf course and transported a 69-year-old female and a 72-year-old woman to out of area trauma centers.
 
According to the preliminary investigation, the women were strolling from the south side of Tomahawk. Then, they crossed near the golf course to the north side near the intersection. “While in the roadway, the pedestrians were struck by a vehicle,” the authorities revealed.
 
Meanwhile, the Sheriff’s officials noted that the incident was not a hit-and-run. They confirmed that the 78-year-old driver of a 2019 Jeep SUV stayed at the scene and helped with the investigation.
 
At this time, the Apple Valley Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) handles the investigation. Furthermore, they encourage anyone with information about the crash to contact 760-240-7400.
