Deadly 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 53 Results in Fatality [Temple, TX]

DPS Investigates Fatal Crash at Stone Road

Temple, TX (March 17, 2023) On Monday morning, a deadly 2-vehicle crash on Highway 53 claimed the life of a 4-month-old baby boy and injured a 33-year-old Manor woman.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the fatal crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. on State Highway 53 at Stone Road about 6.5 miles east of Temple.

Reports say that an eastbound 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by a 24-year-old Rosebud woman, struck the back of a 2017 Honda Pilot SUV. Officials say that the Honda was occupied by a 33-year-old Manor female driver and a 4-month-old baby boy.

Authorities say that an unknown vehicle ahead of the Jeep veered to the right shoulder to pass the Honda, who was stopped facing east attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Stone Road.

Paramedics rushed the Honda driver and infant to McLane Children’s Hospital, however, the infant was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Officials are investigating the deadly 2-vehicle crash and have not released additional information at this time.
