1 Dead in Fresno County Traffic Crash on Mount Whitney Avenue and Howard Avenue

FRESNO COUNTY, CA (August 8, 2023) – Saturday night, a devastating 2-vehicle accident on Mount Whitney Avenue and Howard Avenue killed 1 person.

The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Mount Whitney Avenue, west of Howard Avenue.

According to investigators, a 45-year-old man from Five Points drove a 2003 Honda eastbound on Mount Whitney Avenue west of Howard Avenue at an unknown speed.

Meanwhile, a female driver of a 2008 Nissan traveled west on Mount Whitney Avenue west of Howard Avenue at approximately 55 miles per hour.

As the Honda driver approached the Nissan, the 45-year-old man veered the Honda to the left. Then, it drove across the broken yellow painted lines and into the eastbound lane, directly ahead of the Nissan.

Afterward, the two vehicles collided with each other.

Officers confirmed that the Honda driver succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Nissan driver sustained major injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Also, the authorities have yet to determine whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.

Due to the limited information available, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
