2 Seriously Hurt in 880 Freeway Chain Reaction Collision Near 98th Avenue [Oakland, CA]

2 Hospitalized Following Multi-Vehicle Pileup in Oakland

 
OAKLAND, CA (April 8, 2019) – Two people suffered major injuries in Sunday’s chain-reaction crash on the 880 Freeway near 98th Avenue.
 
The crash unfolded at approximately 5:08 a.m. when a box truck rear-ended a Lexus with a flat tire. Ten minutes later, a Ford sedan rear-ended the truck in the far-right lane, causing major injuries to two Ford occupants.
 
According to reports, one of those injured required extrication from firefighters.
 
California Highway Patrol arrived and investigated the scene, blocking the northbound lanes until 7:20 a.m.
 
An hour later, all northbound freeway lanes were reopened to commuters.
