DUI Driver Crashes in McDonald’s Drive-Thru in Riverside Accident on Van Buren Boulevard

 
RIVERSIDE, CA (March 29, 2021) – Wednesday, two Riverside police officers suffered injuries in a DUI crash on Van Buren Boulevard.
 
The Riverside crash occurred at around 9:30 a.m. on March 24th.

Officers began investigating a report of a car ramming into others in the drive-thru lane at a McDonald’s restaurant. The incident occurred in the 5000 block of Van Buren Boulevard.
 
Then, the 36-year-old female suspect of Riverside fled south on Van Buren Boulevard.
 
“The female driver intentionally crossed over into the officers’ lanes of traffic and drove straight at them. They were unable to avoid the suspect car. She collided head-on with their patrol vehicle, disabling both. The officers took the female suspect driver into custody,” the report said.
 
The officers received treatment for their injuries at a hospital, and were later released. Meanwhile, the occupants of the cars struck by the suspect remained uninjured.
 
Moreover, authorities arrested the woman on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and DUI. Later, she became “belligerent and combative” at the hospital. She reportedly assaulted an officer.
 
“Due to the current emergency bail schedule for COVID-19, she was released on a ‘Notice to Appear’ citation soon after,” police stated.
