2 Dead in Mesquite Traffic Crash on US 80 near Galloway Avenue

MESQUITE, TX (April 30, 2025) – Tuesday night, 2 people died in a horrific auto accident on US 80 near Galloway Avenue.

The incident occurred at about 6:34 p.m. on eastbound US 80 between Galloway Avenue and Belt Line Road.

According to a preliminary investigation, one driver struck the rear of another vehicle, causing it to overturn, police said. The impacted vehicle reportedly flipped over a concrete barrier and landed in the westbound lanes, resulting in the deaths of two occupants.

All lanes of westbound US-80 and several eastbound lanes were closed following the crash.

Mesquite police stated that traffic was being diverted to the Galloway exit, with one eastbound lane remaining open. 

Authorities did not provide a timeline for when the roadway would fully reopen, noting only that the closure would remain in effect for the near future.
