2 Dead in Redding Single-Car Crash on East Street

REDDING, CA (July 26, 2020) – Early Saturday morning, two people died in a fiery crash on East Street.

The Redding police officers responded to the single-car crash on July 25th just after 1:00 a.m. According to reports, the incident occurred on 2150 East Street.

Upon their arrival, they located a grey Ford Fusion that had landed on its roof. Also, flames fully engulfed the vehicle in the parking lot of an establishment that is under construction.

After putting off the fire, the authorities discovered two unidentified persons seated in the driver’s seat and front passenger seat.
The authorities declared both of them dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the evidence revealed that the vehicle traveled north on S. Market Street at a very high rate of speed. However, the driver failed to avoid a slight bend in the road north of Cypress Avenue. Afterward, the vehicle crashed into the raised center median dividing Pine Street and East Street.

Officers think that the vehicle then hit a construction fence before crashing into the south side of an establishment.

Luckily, no one occupant the building during the incident.

Authorities are still unsure whether alcohol played a role or the occupants wore seatbelts.

We would like to send our sincere condolences to the families of the victims during this time.
