2 Hurt in Ventura Auto Accident on Highway 101

 
VENTURA, CA (July 9, 2020) – Monday afternoon, two people suffered injuries in a pickup truck crash on Highway 101, south of Seacliff ramp.
 
The authorities received a report about the crash before 3:00 p.m. on southbound Highway 101. It took place south of La Conchita and the Ventura/Santa Barbara county line, approximately six miles north of Ventura.
 
According to reports, a southbound Chevrolet S-10 truck traveled in the middle lane with two Santa Paula men occupants. Officer Steve Lutzke of the CHP’s Ventura office added that a tire blew. Afterward, the driver lost control and went off the freeway until it ended up around 40 feet off the side.
 
Ventura County and the city of Ventura firefighters came to the crash scene. When they arrived, they extricated the 54-year old passenger trapped in the wreckage. Since the victim was in critical condition, an ambulance transported him to Ventura County Medical Center.
 
The authorities also requested a helicopter unit to the scene. However, firefighters chose to transport the passenger by ground.
 
Meanwhile, responders also transported the 52-year-old driver to VCMC with minor to moderate injuries. Furthermore, the authorities confirmed that both occupants wore seatbelts during the crash.
 
Due to the crash, the authorities shut down the slow lane for around 50 minutes while crews worked at the scene. Thus, resulting in traffic backup along the corridor.
 
Moreover, the authorities ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash.
