Police Investigate Solo Vehicle Crash on Highway 54 in Jefferson City

Jefferson City, MO (November 28, 2004) – Two people sustained serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on  Highway 54.

The Jefferson City Police Department (JCPD) reported that a green 2005 Ford Mustang was traveling eastbound on Highway 54, just north of the MO 179 and Route B overpass, when the driver lost control. 

The vehicle slid off the road, striking a rock embankment with its front end. 

The car continued to rotate, causing the rear end to collide with the embankment as well.

During the crash, the passenger was ejected from the vehicle after the rear struck the rock wall. 

Emergency responders transported both the driver and passenger to a hospital in Columbia to treat their serious injuries.

The crash caused a temporary closure of all but one lane of the highway for approximately one hour, according to JCPD.
