Multiple Injuries Caused by Burien Car Accident

BURIEN, WA (January 21, 2019) – Two people were taken to hospitals while others were reportedly hurt in a DUI car accident on 128th Street on January 17.

Investigators revealed that an alleged drunk driver ran a red light before crashing into a Metro bus. The bus was occupied by 10 people. Many of them were hurt and a person was transported to a hospital.

Sgt. Ryan Abbott with the King Co. Sheriff’s Office stated that the bus was coming down the off-ramp from Highway 509 when the driver noticed the green light and drove into the intersection. Witnesses revealed that the pick-up was driving at a high speed and didn’t yield for the traffic signal.

“He ran through the red light, striking the bus. It was a pretty significant impact,” Abbott stated.

The crash left the driver of the pick-up with non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. Abbott also added that it was immediately determined that the man was intoxicated.

“This just shows what somebody drinking and driving can do,” Abbott stated.

Before crashing into the bus, the pick-up driver reportedly struck a parked car in White Center, investigators added. However, no one was reportedly harmed in that initial crash.
