Big Rig Crash on National Trails Highway Killed Two People

 
Victorville, CA (November 2, 2020) – On Thursday, two passengers died in a big rig crash on National Trails Highway in Victorville.
 
The incident happened at about 11:48 p.m. south of Circle Road wherein a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2014 Freightliner were involved.
 
A motorist who witnessed the fatal accident called 911 and advised that both drivers were out of their vehicles.
 
Additionally, he three passengers in the Chevy were injured and needed medical assistance.
 
Immediately, officers from the California Highway Patrol Victorville Station Station responded to the scene.
 
Upon arrival, they found three passengers still seated in the vehicle.
 
Also, San Bernardino County Fire Department personnel and American Medical Response responded and provided medical aid to the driver and front passenger of the Chevy.
 

Aftermath of Victorville Big Rig Accident

 
Authorities rushed the 45-year-old male driver from Barstow to Victor Valley Global Medical Center by ground ambulance.
 
Moreover, they also transported the 58-year-old female passenger, also from Barstow to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center by Mercy Air with major injuries.
 
However, the rear passengers, a 33-year-old female from Hesperia and a 22-year-old male from Wrightwood, succumbed to their injuries prior to emergency personnel arriving.
 
On the other hand, the 35-year-old male driver of the semi from Firebaugh did not sustain injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the CHP investigation shows the driver of the Chevy was moving south on National Trails while the Freightliner driver was traveling northbound.
 
The driver of the Chevy allowed his vehicle to travel into the path of the Freightliner. As a result, the vehicles crashed in the northbound lane.
 
It does not appear drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash.
 
The coroner’s office will release the identity of the deceased pending notification of next of kin.
