Police Arrested After Chase and Crash on Woodland Park Drive in Houston

Houston, TX (November 22, 2024) – Two officers sustained injuries in a crash on Woodland Park drive.

Two officers are recovering after a police chase early Friday morning, during which a fleeing suspect briefly dragged one officer and caused their patrol car to crash into a tree.

The incident began just before 1 a.m. on Woodland Park Drive near Richmond when officers attempted to stop a driver who ran a red light. 

Police detected the smell of marijuana and tried to remove the driver from the vehicle, but he jumped back inside and attempted to escape.

One officer became caught in the car door and was dragged a short distance before falling free. The officer then got back into the patrol car, and a chase ensued. 

During the pursuit, the patrol vehicle crashed into a tree. Despite the crash, the officers continued their pursuit and located the suspect at his nearby apartment complex. 

Police took the driver into custody, and he now faces charges of evading arrest and aggravated assault on a police officer.

Both officers are expected to recover from their injuries. 

The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
