2 Dead in Fresno Auto Accident on Highway 168 and McKinley Avenue

FRESNO, CA (March 6, 2025) – Early Wednesday morning, 2 people died in a horrific wrong-way crash on Highway 168 and McKinley Avenue.

The incident happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Highway 168 and McKinley Avenue.

CHP reported receiving multiple calls about a wrong-way driver traveling on Highway 168 from Herndon to McKinley. Units were dispatched in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

Investigators later received a call from a person on McKinley Avenue stating that the vehicle, a 2005 Volvo, had crashed and caught fire.

“Unfortunately, our units were unable to reach the vehicle before it crashed. And by the time the units came on scene, the vehicle was fully engulfed, and there was no way to extricate the parties from the vehicle,” said CHP Sergeant Elvis Reynoso.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
