2 Dead in Las Vegas Car Crash
LAS VEGAS, NV (December 17, 2019) – Two people succumbed to death after a car crash on Lake Mead Boulevard on December 13.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, the incident occurred just after 3:00 a.m. on Lake Mead Boulevard and Pecos Road.
A 26-year-old driver of a 2012 Dodge Charger drove at a high-speed north on Pecos. It then clipped the back of a pickup truck. The crash sent the Charger to crash into a power pole and the vehicle caught fire.
Meanwhile, the truck driver confirmed that he saw the Charger speeding behind him before the collision.
As a result, the driver and a 25-year-old passenger in the Charger both died at the scene. Their identities remain unavailable due to pending family notification.
It’s unclear whether the Dodge driver is impaired at the time of the crash. LVMPD also confirmed that the crash wasn’t the truck driver’s fault.
The Pecos Road remained closed in both directions between Lake Mead and Owens Avenue during the investigation. Meanwhile, eastbound Lake Mead also shut down but reopened shortly before 6:30 a.m.
