Injuries Reported in Santa Barbara Traffic Crash on Gibraltar Road near Flores Flat

SANTA BARBARA, CA (February 3, 2025) – Saturday afternoon, an alarming auto accident on Gibraltar Road near Flores Flat injured 2 men.

The incident happened at around 3:15 p.m. when a vehicle plunged over Gibraltar Road near Flores Flat.

The vehicle was found overturned in a creek, about 100 feet below the roadway, according to Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters used a rope system to lower personnel to the scene, while a firefighter/paramedic was lowered from a county helicopter.

Two people were inside the vehicle. One managed to get out on his own and was hoisted into the helicopter before being transferred to an AMR ambulance and taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The second man had to be extricated from the wreckage. He was also airlifted to the hospital.

Both suffered moderate injuries. Their names and current conditions have not been released.

Northbound Gibraltar Road was temporarily closed following the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
