DUI Driver Arrested after Auto Collision near Highway 168
FRESNO, CA (March 31, 2020) – Saturday night, two victims were injured in a DUI multi-vehicle crash on Highway 180.
According to reports, the incident involved seven vehicles. The incident began when a Camry driver was traveling on the westbound lanes over 100 mph.
CHP say that he eventually struck the rear of another car near the Highway 168 interchange. This led to a chain-reaction collision among seven vehicles.
As the Camry driver lost control, he veered west into a nearby embankment. There, his vehicle was found engulfed in fire.
The Camry’s driver sustained major head injuries due to the impact of the collision. Medics transported him to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Meanwhile, another person also sustained injuries. Paramedics transported them to a Selma hospital for further treatment.
Reports later confirmed that the Camry driver was driving under the influence. Police say the DUI driver will be detained in the Fresno County Jail after being released from the hospital.
