Driver Injured and Passenger in Critical Condition after Two-Vehicle Crash near Tawney Ridge Lane

VICTORVILLE, CA (September 3, 2018) – Two people were injured in a DUI collision on Village Drive, late Monday afternoon.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the crash was reported at about 4:41 PM, near Tawney Ridge Lane. A County Fire Battalion Chief arrived at the scene six minutes after receiving dispatch calls, to find two vehicles with major damage on the road.

One occupant was trapped in one of the vehicles, and firefighters had to pull out the unconscious male passenger. He sustained critical injuries and was transported to the Victor Valley Global Medical Center, before being airlifted to a trauma center for further treatment.

The driver had left the scene on foot and was brought back to the scene for medical attention. It was suspected that alcohol was involved in the crash, as at least two beer cans and a small bottle of liquor were found at the crash site.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the driver of a Ford Mustang was traveling northbound on Tawney Ridge in the #1 lane when he lost control, jumped a curb, and crashed into a parked car that was in the yard of a home. The driver of the Ford sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. There is no update on his current medical condition.

The northbound lane of Village Drive was temporarily closed while investigation took place. No additional information was immediately available to the public.
