DUI Likely Played Role in Wrong-Way Accident in Sparks
SPARKS, NV (February 6, 2020) — Two unidentified victims were injured late Tuesday evening, in a wrong-way collision on 80 Freeway.
According to reports, a woman was driving the wrong way on the 80 Freeway around 10:40 p.m. Dispatchers arrived near Sparks Boulevard shortly after.
Officers say witnesses began calling police just ten minutes before the accident occurred. Her vehicle eventually sideswiped one car and struck another head-on.
The driver of the side-swiped vehicle escaped injury, and the driver of the vehicle that was struck head-on suffered driver minor injuries.
Moreover, the female driving the wrong-way vehicle was later found unconscious and taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment. However, there has been no update on her current condition.
In addition, the 80 Freeway was closed off while crews cleared the scene. News reports had no further details. However, an investigation is ongoing.
