Renton, WA (November 28, 2024) On Thursday evening, a traumatic traffic crash on State Route 167 injured 2 people including a WSP officer.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the horrific crash happened at about 11 p.m. near Interstate 405.

Reports say that a driver struck a Washington State Patrol (WSP) vehicle Thursday night on State Route 167 in Renton, injuring a trooper and a tow truck driver.

At around 11 p.m., the trooper was blocking a lane near Interstate 405 to manage an earlier crash. A driver failed to move over and collided with the patrol car, which then hit a tow truck driver standing nearby.

Emergency responders transported both the trooper and the tow truck driver to a hospital with minor injuries. The driver who caused the crash stated they were unable to merge in time. WSP confirmed that the driver was not impaired.

WSP noted this was the sixth time a patrol car was hit in King County over the last five days.
