Two Unidentified Victims Injured in Rollover Auto Collision on 4th Street in Reno
RENO, NV (May 13, 2020) – Tuesday afternoon, two unidentified victims required hospitalization after a multi-vehicle accident on 580 Freeway.
According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a white van lost tire tread in the area of the Spaghetti Bowl just after 1:00 p.m. As a result, the driver drove across all four travel lanes.
As the white van drove across all the lanes, it eventually struck a red SUV. The impact caused the SUV to overturn across all lanes of traffic and over a nearby overpass. The SUV fell about 50 feet under the freeway and landed on East 4th Street.
The surrounding area on 580 Freeway and 4th Street was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary investigation. However, the roadways has since reopened to traffic.
Furthermore, towing services were requested in the area due to the extent of damage sustained in the multi-vehicle accident.
May this be a reminder to all drivers that operating a vehicle is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. Put all distractions away, be careful around other travelers, and keep a safe distance from other vehicles around you. By being a defensive driver, you can minimize the risks of car accidents.
