2 Hospitalized after La Mesa Car Collision
LA MESA, CA (March 29, 2020) – A head-on crash Wednesday evening on the 8 Freeway seriously injured two drivers in La Mesa.
Shortly after 11:55 p.m. on March 25, dispatchers received several reports from people about a westbound SUV in the eastbound lanes of 8 Freeway near El Cajon/La Mesa city limits, revealed California Highway Patrol Officer Travis Garrow.
After several minutes, more people proceeded to report about a two-car crash on the 8 Freeway, just east of the 70th Street exit, Garrow added.
According to investigators, a 28-year-old man from San Diego was driving the wrong way in a Ford Expedition SUV.
This man then collided head-on with a 45-year-old San Diego man driving a BMW 650i sedan.
As a result of the crash, all lanes of eastbound 8 Freeway were blocked.
Meanwhile, the medical responders transported both drivers to Sharp Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for their life-threatening injuries.
Moreover, the detectives suspect that the Ford driver was impaired during the collision.
