OAKLEY, CA (September 20, 2021) – Sunday night, two drivers sustained injuries in a vehicle crash on Bethel Island Road and Cypress Road.
 
The East Contra Costa Fire Protection District responded at 9:11 p.m. Moreover, the incident occurred on Bethel Island Road, north of E Cypress Road.
 
Initial reports stated that two vehicles were in a ditch and one person was trapped. When the authorities arrived, one of the drivers was unconscious. Also, the incident blocked both lanes of traffic due to scattered debris.
 
By 8:18 p.m., Engine 53 came to the scene and confirmed that the crash blocked the area. Also, both vehicles sustained heavy damages.
 
The authorities requested a medical helicopter. Moreover, reports revealed that the crash trapped one person. Meanwhile, another person was trapped underneath the second vehicle.
 
Eventually, a ground AMR transported a patient.
 
By 10:12 p.m., the authorities confirmed that the crash involved DUI driving. Also, both drivers were taken to the hospital.
