2 Drivers Hospitalized after Head-On Crash on Highway 1 and Tom Lantos Tunnels [San Mateo County, CA]

Injuries Reported in San Mateo County Accident on Highway 1 and Tom Lantos Tunnels

 
SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA (March 8, 2021) – Sunday night, two drivers suffered injuries in a head-on crash on Highway 1 and Tom Lantos Tunnels.
 
The authorities received a report of the incident at around 5:28 p.m.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol San Francisco, it happened on Highway 1 near Devil’s Slide Trail. Moreover, it took place between Montara and Pacifica and shut down the highway in both directions.
 
According to reports, a driver traveling north on Highway 1 lost control, south of Tom Lantos Tunnels. Then, the vehicle steered up the rocks and then went back across all lanes of traffic. Afterward, it crashed head-on with another vehicle driving south on Highway 1, said CHP Officer Mark Andrews.
 
As a result, responders rushed both drivers to the hospital through an ambulance. However, the extent of their injuries remains unknown.
 
By 6:30 p.m., all lanes have reopened.
