Double Fatality in Olympia Head-On Collision

 
OLYMPIA, WA (April 16, 2019) – Two people lost their lives Monday afternoon in a head-on crash on Rainier Road Southeast near Spurgeon Creek Road Southeast.
 
Witnesses told Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies that a Ford driven by a reckless driver was traveling south on Rainier Road Southeast.
 
Passing several cars on the shoulder at high speeds, the Ford subsequently veered into oncoming traffic and struck a Volkswagen driver head-on.
 
As a result of the accident, both drivers died at the scene. A passenger in the Volkswagen suffered unknown injuries yet paramedics brought the patient to a nearby hospital.
 
It is unclear at this point whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. However, an investigation surrounding the ultimate cause is underway.
