2 People Apprehended in Bellevue Attempted Vehicular Assault on 120th Avenue

BELLEVUE, WA (October 14, 2020) – On Sunday, authorities arrested two people after an attempted vehicular assault ended in a crash on 120th Avenue in Bellevue.

The incident started after an officer pulled over a driver for a traffic stop. It happened in the 400 block of 120th Avenue NE in Bellevue.

However, the driver suddenly accelerated after pulling over. Then, it made a U-turn and intentionally drove towards the officer. Fortunately, the officer jumped out of harm’s way just in time.

Afterward, the driver headed south on 405 Freeway at a high rate of speed. Bellevue police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off and drove recklessly. Thus, authorities terminated the chase to prioritize safety, said the police.

In a turn of events, the vehicle exited at Exit 5 in Renton and struck another vehicle stopped at a traffic light.

Police apprehended the driver and the passenger a short time later after the two attempted to flee on foot.

Luckily, the driver hit by the running suspects did not suffer any injuries.

The Aftermath of the Crash on 120th Avenue

Authorities booked the driver into jail for investigation of second-degree assault, eluding, and hit-and-run while the passenger for on suspicion of obstructing, drugs, paraphernalia, and a $35,000 residential burglary warrant.

The incident remains in an active investigation.
