Teenage Girl Dies after Vehicle Crashes into Traffic Pole near San Remo

IRVINE, CA (November 12, 2018) – A teenage girl was killed Monday morning following a single-car collision on Paseo Westpark. The identity of the 17-year-old victim is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.

According to the Irvine Police Department, the incident happened shortly after 7:30 AM near San Remo. For unknown reasons, the victim’s vehicle slammed into a traffic pole along Paseo Westpark.

The young victim, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the events that led to the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Irvine police detectives at (949) 724-7024. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
