Teen Skateboarder Hospitalized after Collision with Vehicle near East California Avenue
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 4, 2018) – A teenage boy was injured Thursday afternoon following a skateboard crash on Mount Vernon Avenue. The identity of the 14-year-old victim was not immediately disclosed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the boy was riding a skateboard when he was struck by an SUV, at about 3:00 PM near East California Avenue. Events that led up to the collision were not available to the public.
Paramedics responded to the scene and found the teenager conscious after the crash. He was then transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Further details on his current medical condition were not provided. Meanwhile, it is unknown whether or not the driver of the SUV remained at the scene to cooperate with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
