National City, CA (August 26, 2020) -On Monday, a driver died, and his passenger gravely injured in a car crash on East 16th Street.

Authorities said the car crash was reported at around 11 p.m. in the 2800 block of E 16th Street, killing the teen driver and leaving his passenger severely injured.

National City Police believe speed was a factor in the crash, causing the driver lose control of the Cadillac Sedan.

Consequently, rescuers pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Meanwhile, emergency responders took over an hour to extract the passenger from the crash.

Furthermore, paramedics took the passenger to the hospital due to severe injuries, including head trauma.

Additionally, authorities said both the driver and passenger appeared to be in their late teens.
