SOUTH BAY, CA (April 10, 2025) – Sunday night, a brutal DUI crash on Interstate 805 and State Route 54 merger killed 1 person.

The incident occurred at around 10:36 p.m. on the Interstate 805 and State Route 54 Merger.

A 22-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a white Tesla Model 3 when it veered right for unknown reasons and slammed into a guardrail on northbound Interstate 805 at State Route 54, according to reports.

Her passenger, a man who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Authorities believe alcohol or drugs may have played a role in the crash. The driver was arrested following the incident.
