1 Hurt in Ventura County Auto Accident on Shell Road

 
VENTURA COUNTY, CA (January 5, 2021) – On Saturday, a person sustained injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Shell Road in Ventura County.
 
According to a Ventura County Sheriff Department, a deputy on duty attempted to flag down a vehicle for a traffic violation. However, the vehicle refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed.
 
Then, the suspect vehicle lost control and veered over to the side of the road. Afterward, it crashed into a bamboo thicket on the Shell Road onramp to northbound State Route 33.
 
Moreover, the driver of the suspect vehicle and two more persons attempted to flee the scene on foot. However, the driver was caught by deputies and was taken into custody.
 
Firefighters extricated another person trapped inside the vehicle after the crash. Also, responders transported the passenger to a hospital with unknown injuries.
 
The incident is under investigation.
