1 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Interstate-8 in Mission Valley

San Diego, CA (August 20, 2020) – On Wednesday, a motorcyclist was thrown out of his vehicle, while another vehicle caught fire at Interstate 8 in Mission Valley.

California Highway Patrol said the crash happened between Mission Center Road and Texas Street at around 10:15 p.m.

Authorities found a motorcycle and its rider laying on the ground near the center divider. Consequently, on the slow lane, a Mazda CX5 is on fire. In addition, two other vehicles are in the collision.

The Mazda driver told the officers that the collision happened in front of her. Then, as she attempts to dodge the crash, something went wrong under her car and ignited the fire.

CHP said paramedic took one individual to a hospital, as they sustained minor to moderate injury. Coincidentally, the police did not release the identity of the victim.

Lastly, East of Mission Center Road is impassible until the foreseeable future according to Caltrans.
