PINOLE, CA (June 1, 2021) – Monday afternoon, Holly Giles sustained injuries in an auto accident on Interstate 80 near Appian Way.
 
According to the authorities, a westbound SUV traveling on Interstate 8 near Appian Way lost a tire.
 
Then, the tire struck a center divider and flew over, and crashed into an eastbound vehicle. Three more vehicles were struck by the tire that bounced from vehicle to vehicle.
 
Furthermore, the third vehicle struck by the tire suffered heavy damage to its front windshield and roof. Thus, the paramedics transported the female driver of the vehicle to Highland Hospital in Oakland with serious injuries.
 
Moreover, authorities confirmed that a total of four vehicles were involved in the incident.
 
Also, the accident caused a major traffic backup in the area.
 
Responders managed to clear the crash at around 2:30 p.m.
 
Later reports identified the injured female driver as Holly Giles, the assistant principal of Lowell High School. Her coworkers say she was set to retire this month, but currently remains at the hospital.
