1 Injured After Barstow Collision near Stoddard Wells

BARSTOW, CA (March 27, 2019) — One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle collision on the 15 Freeway early Saturday morning.

The two vehicles involved were identified as a big rig and a white sedan. Dispatchers received multiple calls about the accident around 4:00 a.m. First responders arrived to the area near mile marker 63 shortly after.

To begin, reports indicate that the sedan collided into the back of the big rig on the right-hand shoulder. Firefighters found the white sedan with major damage upon arrival. Details on why the sedan crashed into the big rig are unclear at this time.

Due to the extent of the victim’s injuries, a medical helicopter was requested to the scene. The victim was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Officials closed down the 15 Freeway during the helicopter landing. All lanes were eventually reopened by 5:46 am. The cause of the crash is currently under investigation by CHP.
