Two Drivers Injured after DUI Crash on Southern Avenue in Tempe
Tempe, AZ (March 29, 2023) – Wednesday afternoon, one person died, and two others sustained injuries in a crash on Southern Avenue.
The fatal crash on Southern Avenue in Tempe happened just after 2:30 p.m. on March 29.
Tempe Police responded in the area of Southern Avenue and Clementine Drive, just west of Priest Drive.
Reportedly, a sports car was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic. During this time the driver of the sports car hit a van head-on.
Moreover, a third vehicle also crashed into the first two vehicles.
EMS transported the drivers of the sports car and van to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the third vehicle was medically cleared at the scene.
However, the passenger of the sports car died at the crash scene.
The impairment of the sports car driver is believed to be a factor but remains under investigation.
